Blood Pressure

  • Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood in your arteries around the whole body
  • We all have blood pressure
  • Your blood pressure reading has two numbers
  • The higher number is when the heart pumps. Normal reading is between 110 and 140
  • The lower number is when the heart rests. Normal reading is 80
  • One in every 7 Irish people have high blood pressure
  • If you have high blood pressure your doctor may give you tablets to bring it down
  • Changing your lifestyle may also reduce it
